Wawa – Upper Darby

April - June, 2016

The site of a future Wawa convenience store in Upper Darby, PA, was all business on Monday, April 18th. In addition to the site supervisor who oversaw the operation, one member of the Empire Services demolition crew ran the large 450 John Deere with a 95' boom, another ran the 321 Caterpillar excavator, and two more prepared a nearby structure for demolition. One of 12 buildings on this approximately 1-acre site was in the middle of being torn down by the John Deere (photos below).

At the start of the project in mid-April, the Empire Services crew cleared the four buildings at the center of this site, to create a staging area and a place to crush and consolidate demolition debris (photos below). This debris will remain on site to be used as backfill. The crew will then move on to demolishing houses along the exterior of the site, ending in early June of 2016.
