Is Hand Demolition Necessary?

Demolition is often done with large equipment and/or explosives. It's exciting to see equipment on a project site taking down a wall or floor. Many times you will find a wide range of equipment, especially for large projects, such as an excavator with a rotating grapple, a 120-foot-high reach or a 110-ton hydraulic crane.
Yet, there are some jobs where materials are to be salvaged for their monetary or historic value. Unfortunately, salvaging these materials requires a more sensitive approach to removing them from the structure. This is where hand demolition (also called green demolition) is necessary. It's also used on jobs where there are personnel in or near the building, there are adjacent structures that are to remain, the structure is not stable, or there are overhead utilities.
Recycling & Reusing
Although hand demolition is labor intensive, time consuming and expensive, it is worth it to be able to recycle or reuse materials as sustainability is a best practice in demolition. Materials that can be salvaged include hardware, brick, wall baseboards, corbels, door/window casings, and steel.
When it comes to hand demolition, our team has the right equipment and experience to remove materials without damage. This enables us to skillfully salvage a variety of materials while adjacent structures or rooms remain intact. Each demolition is carefully planned and executed, including safely dismantling materials by hand. Contact us today to learn more!
