Quandel Construction contracted Empire Services to remove the exterior façade and implement civil upgrades. We were also awarded the balance of the interior demolition that our team completed several years ago under a separate contract, where the team removed non-essential utilities, partitions, ceilings, and flooring.
Albright's Gingrich Library Gets a 21st Century Makeover

Empire Services is excited to play a key role in the transformation of Gingrich Library at Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania. Constructed in 1964, Gingrich Library was once considered a modern structure. It has evolved over the decades to feature new technology and resources. Also, a fourth floor was added in 1977. This renovation will encapsulate today’s technology to create a unique learning facility. It will not only house the library but will also offer archives, a writing and tutoring center, and student disability services. Adding to the scope of work was an infrastructure issue; several areas of the building were compromised due to water infiltration causing concerning damage.
Empire Services Tackles Complex Demolition Work
When removing a compromised cementitious façade, it must be removed from top to bottom. This requires a lot of manual work with minimal equipment for hoisting and cleanup. An 85-foot personnel lift, a 55-foot telescopic material handler, and compact track loaders are used for efficient cleanup. The location of the job site was challenging since we are working within tight site boundaries since the library is nestled between two campus buildings. Additionally, the campus was still active. We take numerous precautions to help minimize disruption and reduce dust and debris.

Empire Services has been contracted by Warfel Construction Company to remove an old roof and support structure at a processing plant to prepare the space for brand new roof construction.
