Empire Services Local Summer Projects: Demolition & Renovation Highlights
As summer rolls in, Empire Services is hard at work across Southeastern Pennsylvania, delivering top-tier demolition and excavation services with precision, safety, and efficiency. Our team proudly supports public and private projects that create lasting impacts, including transforming local parks. Here's a look at some of the exciting projects we're tackling this season.
Gingrich Library Renovation Continues
We are proud to be a part of the upgrade and modernization of Albright College’s Gingrich Library. Our crew began with the careful manual façade demolition and window removal to preserve the structural integrity of this educational facility.
With the exterior demolition complete, our crews have transitioned to the interior demolition, which includes the removal of ceilings, partitions, and mechanical features. And lastly will be the final phase of civil upgrades starting the near future. This project is a cornerstone in creating a more modern academic hub. Stay tuned!
Empire Services Brings a Historic Façade Full Circle
Earlier this spring, Empire was contracted by the City of Reading to perform an emergency/exploratory partial demolition of a compromised roof structure. All of this in an attempt to preserve a historic façade.
Upon further evaluation, the building in question were deemed unsafe and posed an imminent threat to public safety. In response, the City of Reading ordered the demolition of the building and the adjacent structure at 433 Penn Street. Empire Services demolished both structures showcasing our ability to adapt quickly to evolving project requirements.
Demolition of a Neighborhood Pool
Our team recently demolished a pool in East Reading. The project consisted of the pool and three structures. Our crew quickly and efficiently demolished the structures and then the pool. The demolition is making way for a splash park and parking lot. The pool was featured in the 1970 film Rabbit, Run based on the novel by Berks County native John Updike. We look forward to the construction of new parking area and splash park!
Barbey’s Playground Renovation
Empire Services has upgraded several parks in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Our latest transformation is Barbey’s Playground in Reading, where we demolished the old splash pad to make way for a new one. Our crew installed the new spray system and water meter pit, as well as poured the concrete pad. We also paved the walkways in the park. Mayor Moran and city officials recently held a re-opening ceremony to an excited crowd ready to try out the new splash pad. Like the East Reading pool, Barbey Park was also featured in Rabbit, Run, and we were honored to help reimagine it for future generations.
At Empire Services, we are thankful for the opportunity to work on these and all other projects, enabling us to help our customers achieve their goals. We look forward to the projects we will be working on the coming months!
